The hidden tiger
Built for the clear round.
A show jumper on the way up, owned by Bayu Pinasthika, ridden by Bayu and Dessy Natalia, and based at AR Team Equestrian.
Macan Velar lives and trains at AR Team Equestrian. It is where the work behind every round happens.
The horse, his story and the essentials.
Macan Velar is a show jumper based at AR Team Equestrian. Every day there works toward one thing: a horse who meets each fence in balance, jumps it clean and lands ready for the next.
This is his home online. Follow his season here, from the warm-up arena to the jump-off, and meet the people who get him there.
Foaled, Breed, Colour, Height, Sire and Dam coming soon.
Formerly Peter. In October 2026 he was given a new name, because a name is a prayer: it is said every day, and it should wish him well.
Indonesian for the tiger, the big cat of our forests. Strong, brave and quick, and never afraid of what is in front of him.
The prayer: a brave heart at every fence, and a winner.
From the Latin velare, "to veil". The hidden one: strength that is still covered, still growing, and not yet seen by everyone.
The prayer: to keep growing, class after class, until it shows.
The dark horse nobody saw coming: a partner who keeps getting stronger and steps out in the ring when it counts.
Every course tests the same three things. Macan Velar’s training is built around all of them.
Power to clear height and width from a balanced canter, without throwing everything at it.
Respect for the rails. It keeps a round clear when the time gets tight.
Turning when asked, waiting when asked. In a jump-off, this is where the seconds come from.
Class heights in metres, drawn to scale. Gold is the highest class Macan Velar has jumped. The dashed rail is the next step.
Every class, newest first.
Macan Velar is competing at 0.50 m. Every class he jumps will be listed here with faults, time and placing.
